This seems to be another example of deliberate neglect to evade the law, and requirements of IMAFA. This house in Durban’s Morningside, that used to belong to the Pickford family, is definitely protected. To get around the legal requirements, some new owners allow the property to degrade to the point they are condemned. Some owners even go far as to “invite” in vagrants in the hope an unfortunate fire will occur. The Municipality should be demanding compliance with bye laws that require proper maintenance and hygiene standards. One wonders why this enforcement doesn’t happen?
