If you are travelling anywhere along the way past Newcastle, a stay over at Sir Rider Haggard’s home, built in 1875 is well worth a visit. Rider Haggard, was the author of ‘King Solomon’s Mines’, ‘Jess’, ‘She ‘, amongst other books. The old house has much memorabilia relating to this famous author.
The home is on the outskirts of the rather grimy CBD, and as such a restful stay over.
